Swept Away
Queer Adult Romance
William “Hawk” Hawkins thought teaching in small town Texas would be the perfect job, since everyone is supposed to leave him at the end of the school year. But when the mother of one of Hawk’s students spills her life’s tragedies in his lap before fleeing town, Hawk finds himself stepping in to help her harried yet unsurprised ex-husband, Gabe, carry the single-father load. What’s meant to be a temporary solution starts feeling permanent when Hawk and Gabe bond over shared traumas on an out-of-town field trip. If Hawk lives on flight’s hair-trigger due to the tragic flood that killed his father (and nearly killed himself), Gabe’s his polar opposite, spurred by his own near-death experience to hold on with a vice-grip to anything that makes him and his son happy. Hawk wants to believe he can hold onto something built to last. But if there’s one thing living in hurricane country has taught him, it’s that you can’t always protect the people you love against forces beyond your control.
